There are only 4 things that can happen to a Nun Sakinah. Just like traffic lights tell cars to stop, go, or slow down, these rules tell the letter "Nun" how to behave.
If you master these 4 rules, you have mastered nearly 30% of all Tajweed rules in the Quran.
👉 The Rule: Whenever you see a نْ or Tanween (double vowel), look at the very next letter. That letter decides the rule.
Here is the breakdown of the four distinct paths. Memorize the letters for each group.
Pronounce the "N" clearly. No merging, no hiding. This happens with the 6 Throat Letters.
Example: Man-Aamana
Skip the "N" and merge it into the next letter. The letters are YAR-MA-LOON.
Example: Mir-Rabbihim
Turn the "N" sound into a hidden "Meem" (M). This only happens with one letter.
Example: Mim-Ba'di
Hide the "N" sound with a nasal buzz. This applies to all remaining 15 letters.
Example: An-Tum
